Bailie

Bailie Ray Miller came into our lives in 2015 while trick or treating.  A foster family was taking care of Bailie at the time and had her outside dressed up as the Frozen character Elsa.  We were just in awe.  From there, I reached out to the family to inquire meeting Bailie (her name was Jolee at the time) as we were considering adopting another dog so that our dog Roxie could have a friend / sister. We did a trial run with Bailie and had her stay overnight.  I will never forget that night – both her and Roxie played non-stop and absolutely loved each other from first sight.  That night I knew she found her home and we ended up adopting her.  Bailie is the most easy going, sweet, loving dog.  She is so much a part of our lives as well as Roxie’s.  She makes us laugh because of her personality; you would have to meet her to truly understand.  She snores while sleeping, head must be propped up on a pillow too, and if we are talking while she is sleeping, she always raises one ear as we refer to it as her antenna. She is our Bae – Bae.  Always making us laugh.

Bailie is what I would call our comfort fur baby.  Our family has been through a lot these past 2 years, and she gives the best snuggles when all of us just need to find an escape from the real world.  When we recently took Bailie in to her 6-month checkup (because now she is labeled a Senior Dog - don’t worry, I covered her ears so she would hear the vet tech refer to her that way) that is when we were told about the spot on her neck and that it didn’t look good.  I cried; my husband cried.  How would I tell our girls.  We came home that night, and I couldn’t hide my emotions.  Ended up telling the girls but assured them mommy and daddy would do all that we can do to make sure Bailie receives the best treatment.  Bailie is a part of our family!

We took Bailie to see Dr. Kaiser as my mom is taking her pet there.  From there we learned more about her diagnosis and just cried.  Unfortunately, we don’t have pet insurance and seeing all the costs was just too much to digest.  Dr. Kaiser referred us to Dogslife and informed us of all that you do.

The grant means more than I think you could ever possibly know.  You took a huge weight off our shoulders and are giving Bailie a chance at living her life to the fullest.  With all that is going on in our personal life right now, losing Bailie just can’t happen.  We need her!  You have shown me good things can happen to people when you feel the world is just crumbling.  I am beyond thankful for your organization and for gifting Bailie this amazing grant.
