Koko

Koko means everything to me. For the past 8 years, she has brought me comfort, joy, and companionship through the toughest times. I never felt alone with Koko by my side, through tough break ups, losing friends and loved ones during the pandemic, and the ups and downs of my military service. Being able to come home to such a loving and charismatic girl is invaluable. She has been my ride-or-die through most of my adult life.

Koko is a sweet, Shiba Inu mix, rescue dog. She loves going on walks around the neighborhood and chasing squirrels. She also enjoys trips to the dog park, car rides, going to the beach, and playing in mud! She likes squirrel plushies, and Milk Bones from anyone but her mom! She also enjoys any freeze dried treats, anything duck flavored, and chicken feet!

She is very chill at home, but has endless energy on walks. Her excited "tornadoes" before walks brings so much joy. She can be shy and selective in who she allows to pet her; but once she's warmed up to you, Koko is a loving girl. Don't let her sweet face fool you, she's known to get into cat treats, trash, and dirty laundry!

When she was diagnosed with Lymphoma, I was heartbroken. With her being a senior dog, I knew time was already precious. And it was difficult to cope with the possibility of losing her sooner due to such an aggressive cancer. I was not ready to let her go, but I did not know how I would be able to afford her treatment.

Fortunately, the veterinarian provided information on Dog's Life. I went to their website and read everything I could. It felt too good to be true. I completed the grant application, not expecting to receive anything but feeling good knowing that I was trying everything I could for Koko. Dog's Life blessed me and Koko with a grant that allowed her to receive the cancer treatment that improved her quality of life and allowed us to have more time together. I am truly grateful for the Dog's Life grant for providing Koko with the medical care she deserves, which allows me to make a few more wonderful memories with my best friend. Thank you, Dog's Life, for everything you do for our four-legged friends/fur-babies.
