Malachite
Malachite is such a goofball with so much personality. He is gentle but playful with his doggie friends but will thrust his 100lbs body into humans to express his love and adoration! But most of the time, he is sleeping or laying down on one of his many beds.
Malachite means the absolute world to me and to many others! He has a gregarious nature and wants to be best friends with EVERYONE, humans and all cats and dogs alike so when I got the news that he was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, we were all devastated.
When I first rescued him, I was told that he was 3-4 years old but after taking him to the vet, it was discovered that he was actually between 7-9 years old and is a senior dog! His age didn’t deter me from loving him any less, however it did mean that I would not get to have as many years with him. Now, I’ve had him for just under 3 years so receiving the news of his cancer diagnosis this year meant that our time together would be that much shorter. Knowing that cancer treatments were incredibly expensive and unsure of what our next steps would be, I decided to ask his oncologist if there was any kind of assistance available to help cover costs. That’s when I was guided to the wonderful organization, Dogslife! I applied unsure of what the outcome would be but in the end, I was approved and could not be more grateful!
This grant will allow me to continue to give Malachite so much love, affection and plenty of treats, of course, because he deserves all of that and more! We’ll now get to go on many more adventures and everyone will get to enjoy his presence that much more. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!
