Roxie

Roxie has been part of our family since she was just six weeks old. Her mother was unable to continue nursing, and from the moment we brought Roxie home in 2014, she has been an irreplaceable part of our lives. She is more than a pet—she is truly one of our children, loved just as deeply as any member of our family.

Our two daughters, Lillie and Abbie, have grown up with Roxie by their sides. Roxie has been a steady source of comfort during some of our family’s most difficult times. When our youngest had health issues in January 2022, Roxie instinctively stayed close to Abbie, offering silent, loyal comfort while her sister underwent surgery. When Abbie came home from the hospital, Roxie was always there—lying beside her for days and nights, offering comfort only she could provide. Later that spring in 2022, our oldest, Lillie, tore her ACL, Roxie again stayed close, laying with her in the recliner and the bed, offering the same unwavering support.

Roxie's love and loyalty extends to everyone she meets. She joyfully greets everyone who walks through our door (yes, with a little barking!), showing her warmth and affectionate personality. After losing our first lab, Sammy, to cancer in 2013, it took nearly a year before we were ready for another dog. The moment we met Roxie at the breeder’s, she immediately ran to us—choosing us as her family—and has been a part of our hearts ever since.

She has been with us through our best moments and helped carry us through the hardest ones. After enduring the loss of Sammy, walking through Abbie’s health issues and supporting our other dog, Bailie, through thyroid cancer last year, we are now faced with Roxie’s own cancer diagnosis. Despite her illness, Roxie remains her sweet, loving self—bringing light, love, and comfort to our family every single day.Despite everything, we are determined to give Roxie the best chance possible. She has been there for us through everything, and now it is our turn to be there for her.

We heard about Dogslife through The Woodlands Animal Cancer & Referral Center clinic.

Getting the call today that we have been approved for a grant means the world to us. For a moment we all can take a breath and feel a sense of relief knowing we are going to help save Roxie's life. Dogslife is an incredible organization that we will always continue supporting by volunteering and donating.
