An update on MAX!

*Questions answered from the perspective of Gonzalo, Max's Dad

Tell us a little about Max. What makes him an important member of your family?

Max is a mixed Yellow Labrador with Chow canine. He has been a very important addition to our family ever since we adopted him from an animal shelter. Max has been there for me through the good and bad times. He means the world to me, and I love him so dearly! He truly brings joy and happiness to our family.

What went through your mind when you learned that you had been awarded a Dogslife grant to help pay for Max's treatment. Where were you? How did you feel?

I am not going to lie - I teared up from happiness. I honestly could not believe that I was awarded a Dogslife grant. I was extremely happy and felt a burden lifted as I now had help paying for Max's procedure.

Tell us about Max’s treatment.

After Max's surgery, he had to take it easy for about a week and a half. I made sure that he make any strenuous movements. When I fed Max, I had to put his food in a blender and serve it to him in liquid. We coped with his treatment fairly well. I didn't really have any problems with Max after his surgery, just made sure he had plenty of time to heal. Max had his moments of vomiting at times, but he got better as time progressed.

How is Max doing today?

Max is very active and doing really well. I can truly see a smile on his face.

Tell us about a favorite memory since Max finished treatment.

Once Max lost his two bottom canine teeth, I was worried Max would never grip a tennis ball again. One time, Max and I went to a park to try to play fetch. I tossed him the ball, and lo and behold he caught it. I was so proud of him! I will never forget that moment because he loves his tennis balls.

Anything you’d like to say to the Dogslife family, board and/or staff?

I am truly grateful for each and every single one of you who made this possible for Max to still be in my life! I wish you all the best each day in helping others like the way you help me. From the bottom of my heart, Max and I thank you all! We love Dogslife! Thank you for what you do for others to help save the lives of peoples' pets.
